Standards Are Your Best Friend

The prevailing standard for museums of all types in North America was written by a blue ribbon committee several years ago and was known as “The Suggested Guidelines for Museum Security”. It is being revised by another committee to conform with the Homeland Security style format. As a result some of the provisions have changed slightly and references were added to master standards by the American Society for Industrial Security.

While the differences are not significant, there are differences. As soon as the final draft of the new standard is available we will post it here. Until then, here is the link to download the original standards.
